How we brought a fintech platform in Portugal to the top
About the client
At the time of launch, the site had no organic traffic, and this was not the only problem. Getting to the top of the search results was hindered by poor indexing and pages not adapted to popular keywords (“payment system in Portugal”, “opening an online account”). The leaders of the niche on the territory of this country were local financial organizations represented by banks, as well as international payment systems. The client did not have optimized pages, designation of working goals related to analytics. The structure of the site for SEO was also absent. Under such realities, getting to the top of the search engine results was out of the question.
Goals
- Attracting organic SEO traffic from private and corporate clients in Portugal Focus on reaching targeted search queries related to online payments, international transfers, opening multi-currency accounts and other digital financial services - both for individuals (expats, freelancers, residents) and legal entities (SMEs, startups, e-commerce).
- Generate a steady stream of leads through content and local SEO optimization Develop relevant, expert content in English and Portuguese, optimized for local and niche queries, in order to generate registrations, applications and platform connection requests.
Solution
The first thing our team did was to analyze fintech competitors, collecting over 3,600 key queries.
The main focus was on “payment system for business in Portugal”, “online transfers in euros” and “opening an account without visiting a bank”. We developed 27 SEO optimized pages:
- product-oriented;
- for specific segments - for private clients, legal entities;
- for specific regions (the largest being Lisbon, Porto, Algarve).
The content on the site was there, but very weak, we rewrote it, adding micro markup and a scheme for opening an account online, as well as a block with answers to frequently asked questions. We achieved promotion through guest publications on fintech platforms, crowdsourced links and instructions on YouTube.
Result
After 6.5 months, the platform was in the top 10 of Google for over 65 keyword phrases. There was an increase in traffic from 0 to 3900 organic visitors. That's a great performance in a month. Conversions per signup reached a value of 4.3%. Let's add to this new leads per month. Thanks to competent SEO-promotion, performed in the niche of payment systems in Portugal, we managed to attract customers to the site.
